This Privacy Policy explains Creative Sound Design's ("CSD's") information-gathering and dissemination practices for our website: www.therecordist.com (the "Site"). This Site is the official web site of The Recordist. The Site is dedicated to providing Sound Effects users with news, features, and other information for maximizing the audio experience when they work.

CSD takes your privacy rights seriously and has posted this Privacy Policy to let our users know what information we collect from you, why we collect it and what we do with it. CSD's goal is to collect and use only that information that we think is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as to better understand and serve you, to provide better service, and to improve marketing of The Recordist and other products that we believe may be of interest to you.

What information, including personally identifiable information, does CSD collect from and about you?

In order to provide you with our services, there are two methods whereby we collect information from you: passive collection of technical information and information you voluntarily provide to CSD, including personally identifiable information.

Passive Collection of Technical Information.

CSD automatically collects certain technical information from each visitor, including your IP address, the type of browser you use to surf the Internet, your computer's operating system, and the web site from which you accessed the Site. Your IP address tells us both your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the general geographic location from which you are connecting. We may also use your IP address to track how long you stayed on the Site and what pages you visited. This information is used internally by CSD to help us provide a good web experience to The Recordist fans, including providing proper formatting for our web pages and analyzing which aspects of the site are most effective, as well as optimizing the marketing of The Recordist.

CSD does not require anyone to register for news and contests or become a member of therecordist.com to use the Site. However, we do require that you register with the Site to take advantage of special features or benefits. CSD may require that you provide us with your ZIP code, city, name, and other information, including your email address, age, gender, and ethnicity. If you elect not to register, you will not be able to access certain special features of the Site or participate in contests, but you will have access to the remainder of the Site.

Additionally, if during your visit to the Site, you complete a form such as a survey, a contest entry form, or an order form, you may be requested to submit additional personal information, such as your mailing address.

What other organizations besides CSD may be collecting information from you on the Site?

CSD may use outside advertising companies to display banner advertisements on the Site. Banner advertisements may also contain cookies, and appear to be coming from CSD; but, in reality, they are coming from third parties who are serving advertisements on the Site. CSD has no control over the privacy practices of any third party, and the manner in which any third party uses your information is not protected by the terms of this Privacy Policy. How will CSD and its marketing partners use my information?

The information collected by CSD is retained by CSD and is used to better shape CSD's marketing and other business activities and to operate CSD's programs, which include the provision of goods, services, and information. CSD compiles certain information in a database with the information collected from other Site users.
