CH-47D Chinook HD Pro Released
September 23, 2025 – CH-47D Chinook HD Pro Released!
I am excited to present all new CH-47D Chinook helicopter recordings from summer 2025 along with sounds captured from 2023 to 2024. Included are exterior close, medium close and distant turbine starts, hovering, arriving, departing and passing by during fire fighting duties and US Army unit flights.
Captured with high end stereo microphones in 96kHz/32-Bit Floating Point and delivered at 24-Bit/96kHz the sounds have incredible detail and a wide dynamic range.
Recorded at a quiet airport with minimal ambient background noise I was able to record extremely distant approaches and pass bys out to 750 meters. Multiple angles were recorded from the front, side and rear to give you a diverse set of material to work with.
The pass bys were recorded while the helicopter was flying over my property. At times it was very close overhead and others it was 2 to 4 miles away. I would monitor the helicopter on radar as it was coming and going and set one or two ORTF microphone setups with ZOOM FR3’s outside let them run.
Standing close to this massive machine while it’s lifting off and landing is thrilling to say the least. The wind gusts it produced almost knocked me over a few times. With the Schoeps MK4/MK8 MS microphone set in my left hand and my iPhone in my right it was tough to stay steady and standing upright.

Those CH-47D Chinook sounds have been removed from Helicopters 1 HD Pro and are now only available in this collection.
