Description
A gusty collection of 30 24-Bit 96kHz wind sound effects from the forests and fields of North Idaho. Recorded during the fall season of 2012 on my property and in the North Idaho mountains. This library was recorded with the Sennheiser MKH-8040ST at XY-90 and at times XY-120 (wide) and captures in great detail the sound of air blowing through trees, leaves, tall grass, wire and fences.
Autumn is my favorite time of year in North Idaho. The weather change from Summer to Autumn and into Winter brings a very dynamic and sometimes forceful air mass from the North that collides with the Southern push of warmer weather. Since my location is on the West side of the Rocky mountains the climate can remain relatively warm as this cold air mass pushes downward and recording wind becomes an almost daily occurrence.
Included in this library are calm breezes, wind through tall trees and Gusts up to 60MPH that actually knocked the MKH-8040ST over a few times. The sound of a MKH-8040ST falling over and doing a face plant into the ground is not pretty (not included in the set). FYI: The term “face plant” is what skiers call wiping out head first on a fast run which I learned many years ago from my professional ski instructor brother. Enjoy! -Frank
