Formats and Metadata
What audio file formats do you offer?
The Recordist products come as broadcast-quality .wav files. Our sound effects collections come in either 24-bit / 48 kHz, 24-bit / 96 kHz or 24-bit / 192 kHz formats. Included in the audio files is extensive Metadata for Soundminer and other asset management software. The BWAV field is included so the Metadata can be read by other sound library database software applications such as the ProTools workspace, Soundminer, Basehead, AudioFinder and others.
What is Metadata? What is Soundminer?
The metadata is included with every sound effect collection downloaded from TheRecordist.com. Soundminer is an cross-platform database application that allows you to see metadata embedded in each audio file. You can also see this metadata in Pro Tools and other applications that can read the BWAV header information.
Is metadata available in excel format or as PDF files for your libraries?
Yes, each product contains a track listing with all metadata that can be downloaded from it’s product page. All files contain embedded Soundminer/BWAV Metadata as well. If you require a specific format not currently available through our website, please contact The Recordist with your request.
Downloads
Downloads use data compression via the widely used and accepted .ZIP format. Mac OSX users can extract the files via the finder with no other software needed. Windows users may use the program of their choosing. Each .ZIP file is a self contained archive and may be extracted even though you have not downloaded every .ZIP included in your purchase.
Using A Download Manager
The Recordist recommends against the use of download managers, to download your purchased files from The Recordist Store.
Download managers send multiple requests and create multiple connections to the server – each one counting as a download.
The server will receive an abnormally large amount of requests to download the file(s) and may result in the item exceeding the download limit.
