It’s Here! BULLETS 3 Sound FX Library. Years of research & intense recording culminates in the long awaited sequel to Bullets 2. Bullets 3 brings over 1700 new sounds to your sound design tool kit.
The Recordist presents the third installment of the famed BULLETS Sound FX Series. BULLETS III has taken four years of intricate and complicated recording sessions of sub-sonic and super-sonic bullets impacting and bouncing off a multitude of surfaces. This sound effects library is a ricochet dream come true! Many calibers and locations were uitilized to provide the sound designer with a wide range of options when designing bullet sounds.
Included are intricate designs of impacts, richocets, pass bys and whizzes by yours truly and the source material used to create the complex and hard hitting sounds. The source material was recorded with high end, extended frequency microphones and custom hand crafted ammunition. Suppressors were used on a variety of rifles including a AK-47, AR-15, .308 hunting rifle, 9mm black gun, 22LR, 300 Blackout and more.
Bullets HD Professional Sound Effects Library
After nine long months and over thirty recording sessions it’s finally here! This release includes the sounds of bullets being shot into an old Bronco SUV. They were recorded inside and out… and from all sides. After many weather delays and scheduling conflicts, the end is here.
The trick to recording a large portion of this library was using subsonic and custom made ammunition with some of the guns. Most of the bullets recorded are traveling less than 700 feet per second. This allows me to position the microphones in just the right area without having a significantly loud muzzle blast. Sometimes I used cloth or carpet baffling around the target area to lessen the echo trail from the initial shot. Even though my goal is to have just the ricochet or pass by recorded, sometimes I include the muzzle blast in the file whether it can be avoided or not. It can make for a interesting sound element and gives you a few gunshots to use also.
The library is organized into 3 sections: designed, processed and the original source files. The designed portion is basically taking some of the raw files and processing them for importing into sessions that I mix and mangle. They are over the top, larger than my own reality and hopefully yours also. The processed files are amped up with transient enhancers, compression, EQ and pitch manipulation. They are derived from the original source files but most are not exact duplicates of the number of takes and sequence. For the processing, I only used the takes I thought would work well for the feel I wanted. And finally, there are the original source files for you to process.
Three types of firearms were used on the SUV to give you a wide selection of impacts to choose from. This final installment includes 198 brand new multi-take Broadcast WAV files and includes the cleaned up and organized raw recordings along with the “processed” takes. Some new foley and designed sounds are also included.
Also included are bullet sounds recorded along a logging road in the North Idaho mountains and the “cliffs” overlooking the forest. A majority of the ricochets were recorded with a suppressed .22 caliber rifle in a very quiet setting. Along with the ricochets are multi-microphone foley sounds of bullet belts and single shells being dropped and handled.

Bullets II HD Professional Sound Effects Collection.
Over a year and a half in the making with thousands of rounds of ammunition shot, this one of a kind collection showcases higher caliber projectiles passing by inches from multiple sets of extended frequency response microphones.
Recorded in three unique locations with a variety of suppressed handguns and high powered suppressed rifles. The locations include a wide open 380 acre field, a farm ranch with a asphalt roadway and a high mountain dirt logging road. The distances the bullets were shot range from 300 feet to over 1000 feet. Most of the collection is recorded with two sets of stereo microphones and two mono microphones. The microphones were placed along the bullets path and on both sides. (See the diagram below for specific placement) There were a few occasions where only a single XY stereo microphone was used because of the difficult weather and time constraints. Most of the bullets were shot from this distance: 1050 Feet (ft) 320 Meters (m) 350 Yards (yd).
