The Recordist is proud to present a exciting new series of HD Professional sound effects libraries featuring rare and unique guns. Next in this series is the Heckler & Koch HK21 Machine Gun. Recorded at a 400 acre ranch in North Idaho with a huge array of microphones and handheld recorders.
Perspectives include: attached, very close, medium and distant. From just a few inches out to 150 meters this collection offers a wide range of source material. 10 mono and 7 stereo microphones time aligned and level matched provide a “ready to go” set of 24-bit 96k WAV files with detailed Soundminer metadata from this belt fed 7.62×51mm NATO full automatic weapon. Single and burst variations are included along with mechanical action “foley” sounds. The weapon recorded is authentic, not a replica.
Gun Background (Wiki):
The HK21 is a German 7.62 mm general-purpose machine gun, developed in 1961 by small arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch and based on the G3 battle rifle. The weapon is in use with the armed forces of several Asian, African and Latin American countries. In the German military and the federal police it is designated “G8”.
The HK21 is a selective fire roller-delayed blowback-operated firearm with a semi-rigid locking mechanism designed to retard the rearward movement of the bolt. This delay was achieved by artificially increasing the inertia of the bolt by using an angular, interposed transmission system, installed symmetrically to the bore axis, with two cylindrical rollers acting as transmission elements against a movable locking piece which drives the heavy bolt carrier.
