From the Mountain Forests and Rural Areas of North Idaho comes a diverse collection of wind and air sound effects. Exterior locations include forests, mountains, rural homestead, ranch, municipal airport. Interior locations include: barn, garage, and two different house rooms. Recorded at different times of the day and over multiple seasons.
The “Air” portion of this library has calm breezes recorded during the day and night with nothing other than soft air movement, perfect for that scene the requires that “Air” feeling. The Airport section showcases strong gusting wind through airplane vertical stabilizers, canvas tarps and wires/antennas. A blustery wind storm was recorded from inside various buildings producing some great howling through window casings and creepy drone sounds from an empty basement. Another very strong wind storm was recorded from inside a large empty garage and a small barn. The country wind sounds feature wind flowing through tall fir trees in the mountains and on a rural homestead. There are also recordings of gentle forest breezes with crickets and tree frogs at night, distant birds and some crazy raven vocalizations.
Recorded over a five year period this collection will certainly come in very handy for a multitude of air and wind sound design situations. This collection will be updated as new sounds are recorded and mastered, free of charge! Some of these sounds have already been used by a few notable sound designers in feature films. Enjoy! -Frank
