Product Description
Shotguns HD Professional is a complex library with five “sections.” There is a multi-channel section that has a bunch of shotguns, with many microphones, recorded in a wonderful field/forest location. These are presented in their “original” form with just a couple of cleaning passes and level adjustments. Live action foley and mechanical sounds were also obtained.
Next are what I call shotgun “textures.” These consist mainly of one or two stereo tracks per gun recorded at over a dozen unique locations. There are mono sounds that include a attached lavalier microphone and a very close up and personal cardioid or shotgun microphone. (The reason it’s taken nearly three years to produce.) Live action foley and mechanical sounds were also recorded on location when appropriate.
The third section includes the cleaned up un-processed source material used in the textures portion of the library. Please note that in some files there is slight “high velocity slug” impact debris sounds in the tail because of the location and microphone proximity to the impact zone. I tried to keep this to a minimum but this is just the way it goes sometimes when out in the field recording sound effects. The locations include a wide open 400 acre ranch, farm field, rock quarry, dirt pit, mountain forest cliff and my own back yard. Interior sounds were recorded in a barn, metal shop and my garage (that was fun to record to say the least).
The fourth section contains all the foley and mechanical sounds from most of the shotguns. Recorded in the studio and on location, this section includes extra interior foley and mech sounds with a nice room echo which can be used as a nice sweetening element on interior shots. Empty Shotshell drops are also included. The drops were recorded inside and outside and onto various surfaces.
And finally, section five: The kick-ass designed portion of the library. I’ve been able to create some wicked sounds with inspiration from all the crazy names submitted by my Facebook friends. These include: The Annihilator, The Decapitator, The Intimidator, The Shredder, The Vaporizer, The Perforator, The Pulverizer, The Carbonizer, The Ripper, The Silencer, The Shredder, The Gut Buster and more!. As a special bonus the layers used for these designed shotguns are included. This allows you, the end user to adjust the mix and process as you see fit. Watch out though, they are loud! When assembling these layer tracks in your DAW set the mixer faders accordingly. These will not disappoint!

SHOTGUN RECORDING APRIL 2016
During the month of April and into the first week of May 2016 I recorded in quite a few locations. I managed to borrow the Mossberg 5500 shotgun from a friend and recorded some fantastic sounding shots. I also shot a Mossberg 590 and a Benelli M4 in some of these locations. I attached a DPA 4062 lav microphone to the semi-automatic shotguns and placed a close up MKH8050 near the breach and set one or two stereo microphoes nearby for the echo tail.

SHOTGUN RECORDING MARCH 2016
The recording sessions for Shotguns HD Pro are complete. During month of March 2016 and into April I recorded in many locations in and around North Idaho. Most of the time I was doing the shooting by myself and one other time I had a fantastic shooter handling the chore. Here are a few photos from the recording sessions that took place during the last remaining sound effects gathering dates.

SHOTGUNS HD PRO VIDEO TEASER ONE
Eight shotguns were recorded in various locations in the wilderness of North Idaho. Along with the standard multi-channel recordings there are a multitude of “Texture” sound effects included for layering into other sounds as you see fit. Pitch them around, mangle them, pump them up! The specific location in this teaser is a fantastic wide open field with rolling hills and mountain ranges all around. The library will be available very soon from The Recordist. Enjoy! -Frank, March 10, 2016 Got Echoes?
