Recorded over a two day period, Storm Lake HD Professional Sound Effects Library showcases a very windy storm front that passed over the region in October 2015. With a steady wind speed of 25MPH and gusts to 45MPH this weather event from the North stirred the lake and curled the waves in such a consistent way I could not resist recording it.
A Schoeps MS Pair with a MK4 and MK8 was used to capture locations on the lake such as a dock, a beach and a rocky shoreline. Recorded from three or more perpectives, each location gives you unique and steady wave movement sounds including close up, medium close and very distant shots. The wind was strong and steady those days and positioning the microphone rig to avoid high wind gust overloads was challenging but not impossible with the fantastic windscreen protection Rycote gear provides. Once a location was found to be optimal, three minute long takes were recorded, carefully edited and mastered to provide you with a stunning stereo image free of any nasty wind buffeting artifacts.
Recording locations include a dock, The sandy shoreline of the lake, The rocky shoreline and distant from the lake to provide you with a multitude pf perspectives.
