There have been quite a few helicopters flying around the last few weeks due to forest fires burning in the area. If I hear one flying over the house or if I’m at the airport recording other aircraft and they fly in for fuel or an overnight stop I try and record them. Here are some videos of a couple of them. Presenting Prop Planes 2 HD Professional Sound Effects Library. This library is the result of over two years spent at the local airfield waiting and watching for planes. 30 different airplanes were recorded in pristine 24-bit 96kHz resolution with various high end microphones and handheld recorders. Single, twin and turbo prop planes were captured at multiple distances and airspeeds. Engine starts, high RPM warm-ups and ground taxi maneuvers are also included.

You can probably tell I love recording helicopters. I can hear them coming from miles away as I sit in my studio working on stuff I should be working on. If I hear them more than once in a half hour period I know something is up and they will be around for a while. This happened on March 17, 2017. A couple of Huey helicopters flew over my house and were flying around the area so I hustled to the local airport and there they were, ripe for the picking!

Prop Plane Aug 2012

This is a prop plane engine start and run at various speeds recorded on August 11, 2012 in Sandpoint Idaho. I was 50 yards from the plane when it started up and performed some high RPM tests. It then approached and strolled on by me on it’s the way to the runway for take off. Recorded with a Sennheiser MKH-8040ST at X/Y 90 degrees. Free and Downloadable at 24-Bit 48kHz. -Enjoy! -Frank
